It's the middle of the night

So why is the silence so loud

It's deafening in these four walls

Will it go if I crack open windows?

It's in the middle of the night

So why does it feel safer on the streets

Than the safety of closed doors

Are my demons so mad?

My hands seem furious

Refusing to let go of my throat

Even the cold air makes slits in my heart

And the voice of night slurs like a drunken beast

And why can't I scream for help

I want to, but only tears come

Am I to welcome the darkness

Light seems to have betrayed me

It's the middle of the night

That's why I'm only giving up

My light and my freedom

But who's that in the mirror who looks so happy
